COVID19: Requirements for people at locations of interest – Auckland February Cluster

by | Feb 24, 2021

Kia ora koutou

You may be aware there has been some confusion about what people need to do, if someone in their household was at a  location of interest in relation to the recent cases in the Papatoetoe community.

The Ministry of Health has updated their website this afternoon, to provide clear information for people who have been at a location of interest, and their households.

They have split their advice into different sections for each location:

  • Customers
  • Staff
  • Households of customers
  • Households of staff

We have copied the table below as it currently is listed on the health website for ease of reference.  This information may however be updated so you might want to refer to the webpage itself – COVID-19: Contact tracing locations of interest | Ministry of Health NZ

If someone has been at one of the locations of interest at the specified time (as noted in the table), they should follow the advice in the far right hand column of the relevant row. The advice differs for each location and for each different category of person (staff, customer, household).

Unless a student or staff member at your school meets one of those categories of people (staff, customer, household), they are not required to do anything specific in regard to isolation, testing etc.  The only exception to this is where they are a household member of someone who is a student or staff member at Papatoetoe High School. People who share a house with Papatoetoe High School students or staff should stay at home until the student or staff member they share a household with has returned a negative test result (taken from 22 February or after)

Please check the table above to see if you or someone from your household was at any of those places, at those times.

  • If the answer is no, no one from your household has been to those locations at those times, then you don’t need to do anything more
  • If the answer is yes, someone from your household was at one or more of those places at those times, then they will need to follow the advice in the “What to do” column. You can see that the advice is different depending on whether someone was a customer or staff member, or a household member
  • If you have symptoms but have not been to a location of interest stay home and call Healthline for advice on 0800 358 5453.

Please be reassured we have good systems in place with our cleaning, good hand hygiene practices and contact tracing systems and we take the health and wellbeing of our community very seriously. We will continue to follow all public health advice and ask you to do the same.

Thank you all for doing the right thing for our community.
