Sylvia Jeon

Kia ora, my name is Sylvia Jeon, and I am the homeroom teacher of Room 1B in 2026. I teach literacy and library, and I have been teaching English for 12 years. I’m excited to be joining Papatoetoe Intermediate School this year and getting to know the students and families in our school community.

I am originally from Seoul, South Korea, and I enjoy working in a culturally rich and diverse environment. I have a strong interest in learning different languages and cultures, which often finds its way into my teaching. While academic progress is important to me, I also believe learning should be enjoyable. In my class, there is plenty of laughter alongside learning, and I enjoy connecting with students, sharing jokes, and creating a classroom where everyone feels confident and supported.

Outside of school, I am happily married and have an 8-year-old son. I enjoy spending time on everyday things like watching movies, reading, learning new languages, and going for walks. I find meaning in the small moments of daily life and try to bring that same appreciation into the classroom.
