Classroom Teacher Room 23, I have a background in and a passion for teaching Science, but my heart is really in teaching Reading, Writing and Mathematics
A little about me and my time at Papatoetoe Intermediate School:
I am a beginning teacher and this is my first year teaching at Papatoetoe Intermediate School. I completed my teacher training last year in Dunedin at the University of Otago College of Education. I have teaching experience in Food Science, Early Childhood Education and Preschool Music. I feel very privileged and excited to be starting my teaching journey here, and I look forward to continuing to learn more about Papatoetoe from students, staff and the community.
My vision and hopes for our school/my class:
I have high expectations for all students and I am passionate about enhancing learner agency in the classroom. By engaging students in leadership opportunities and encouraging student voice, I strive to establish an equitable, welcoming and positive classroom environment. My hopes for the students of Room 18 is that they will become more confident and curious learners, as they develop the strategies and acquire the tools they need to pursue their interests in the classroom and beyond.
A bit more about me:
My family and I were all born and raised in the South Island of New Zealand, with some time spent in Auckland during my High School Years. In my spare time I enjoy being with family and friends, listening to music, playing guitar and singing. I also love hiking and I hope to explore more of NZ’s beautiful National Parks in the North Island this year.
