Kia Ora! Hello!

I am a counsellor and I have been a teacher for over 20 years.  I am furthering my studies and will complete a Masters of Counselling in the future.  I was born and bred in Tāmaki Makaurau and I am a sixth generation New Zealander.  I am married to Tokuko, and together we have three children – Akasha, Solomon and Zoe.

I am new to Papatoetoe Intermediate this year and I am looking forward to meeting many of the students here.  My role here is to support ākonga and kaiako. My focus in my work is very much on building relationships with people and treating everyone as individuals who have a unique set of circumstances that story their lives.  This means that I endeavour to listen, understand, and acknowledge those stories and work with that person to help improve their journey, in whatever way is meaningful for them.

“Take care of our children. Take care of what they hear: take care of what they feel. For how the children grow, will be the shape of Aotearoa.”

– Dame Whina Cooper

I am very excited about the coming year and the new journey.
