PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Our school has no responsibility for what children do when they are outside the school property and outside of school hours.

We will take disciplinary action if a child is ‘caught’ bringing the school into disrepute.

Over the past few weeks we have had a significant increase in the reports of inappropriate social media posts.  These posts have been made on sites owned by children who have started them outside of school hours and often when they are at home.

We have had complaints of:
– incitement to self-harm
– overt racism, bullying, threat of violence
– made from personal phones on anonymised social media sites (eg. Instagram, Tik Tok)

We do encourage all complainants to:
1 – Contact the site owners (eg. Instagram) to make a complaint
2 – Contact Netsafe to make a complaint and ask for an investigation
3 – Contact the police in instances where a child’s safety is at risk
4 – Contact our school to see if we can investigate – send screen shots please, we will do our best to help.  Please accept we are not miracle workers but will do everything we can to keep your children safe
5 – Stop your child accessing these sites.  Check their internet history and limit their access.

YEAR 7 CONFERENCES

On Tuesday 15th November and Wednesday 16th November 2022 from 3.15pm – 6.00pm we will be holding Year 7 3-Way Conferences.

You will have the opportunity to discuss with your child and their classroom teacher how they have progressed this year, review any testing results to date and discuss possible goals for 2023.  It is important for your child to be present to be a part of the discussions.

We are using on online booking system to make appointments.  Simply go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter the school code: pnskm

You then choose the teacher you want to meet with and see what time slots they have available.  Select to meet online or in school.  You will receive an email confirming your appointment time.

If you are unable to make one of these dates and times, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange an alternative time to meet.

Please note that Room 17 Year 7 conferences will be one week later on the following dates: Tuesday 22nd November 9.30am – 11.00am, Wednesday 23rd November, Thursday 24th November 2022 from 3.15pm – 5.00pm.
