Thank you to Room 9 for this Newsletter article

Despite Week 6 being short, we have been doing lots of different things in Room 9.

This week was the Support Staff Week and most students made a thank you card for our teacher aide, Mrs Kumar, to appreciate all her work and support in our classroom.

In Maths, students have been learning about statistics. The different ways of displaying and interpreting data on graphs.

Students have also been writing recounts, reflecting on their experiences and memories of the past.  They have enjoyed the process of brainstorming, writing drafts, editing their own and friends’ work, and finally publishing their writings.

Another exciting thing that has been happening in Room 9 – is the students have been learning about Ozobots.  Ozobots are little robots that are designed as an introduction to coding. Students use colour combinations to move the Ozobot on a path from one location to another. When Ozobot goes over certain combinations of red, green, blue, and black in the form of little squares right next to each other, it receives an instruction (called a Colour Code). Ozobot knows about 30 Colour Codes. Students draw lines with colour and watch how Ozobot responds.
In the 2 photos attached you can see some of the boys in Room 9 working in a group to make a track for Ozobots to follow.
