A little about me and my time at Papatoetoe Intermediate School:

Kia ora,

I am Zuhaib Arsalan Ahmad, serving as a classroom teacher in Room 1B. My journey in education is grounded in a Master of Teaching from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and a Master of Business Administration from India, complemented by a decade of rich experience in learning and development. Inspired by the proverb “He waka eke noa,” I embrace our collective journey in education, emphasizing teamwork and unity. Since commencing my role, I have engaged in an enriching journey marked by continuous learning, personal development, and a commitment to advancing our school’s mission. I focus on contributing to an educational experience that is engaging, inclusive, and comprehensive, guiding our students on their journey to success in all aspects of their lives.

My vision and hopes for our school/my class:

In my classroom, I champion the values of Manaakitanga, creating a nurturing and supportive environment; Whanaungatanga, building a strong sense of community; and Aroha, fostering empathy and kindness. These principles are the bedrock of my commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere and integrating modern learning environments, ensuring each student feels valued and empowered.

My objective is to ignite curiosity and instill a passion for lifelong learning, striking a balance between academic excellence and holistic well-being. I am focused on preparing our students for a dynamic future, utilizing innovative teaching methods and technology to enrich our curriculum.

A Bit More About Myself

Family Background: My roots are in a family that holds education and community service in high regard. This upbringing has significantly shaped both my professional journey and my outlook on life, embedding a deep respect for learning and civic engagement.

Cultural Heritage: Proud of my Indian roots, I draw inspiration from the principle of “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth Alone Triumphs), embodying the vibrant traditions and deep values of my culture. This emphasis on truth, education, and community spirit is integral to both my teaching philosophy and personal ethos, guiding us towards a journey of integrity and knowledge.

Athletic Pursuits: As an enthusiast of swimming and overall fitness, I champion the importance of physical health and mental toughness. These principles are not only personal practices but also integral to my educational approach, promoting well-being among my students.

Personal Interests: Outside of my professional realm, I have a keen interest in technology, educational innovation, and community involvement. These passions not only fuel my continuous growth but also enhance my ability to contribute meaningfully to our school and community.

Ngā mihi nui,

Zuhaib Arsalan Ahmad

Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.
